Welcome to the Prince Edward Island Aquaculture Alliance (PEIAA)! The PEIAA provides the voice and focus for the Island’s Aquaculture Industry. Our goal is to enhance industry prosperity through its development as an effective world competitor in an environmentally sustainable manner.

Aquaculture has a long history of development in PEI starting with the culture of our Malpeque oysters in the 1800’s to the expansion, in the 1970’s, of water column farming of our famous blue mussels and land-based culture of Atlantic salmon, Rainbow trout and Arctic Charr. Throughout this development, PEI shellfish and finfish have gained an international reputation as superior quality aquaculture products.

The PEIAA is proud to be part of a growing Canadian aquaculture industry and are pleased on behalf of our members to provide this website. The PEI Aquaculture Alliance is located in Charlottetown, PEI and represents aquaculture sector members from North Cape to East Point. Please feel free to call our office or drop by during the hours listed below if you would like to discuss the Alliance, or any concerns you may have in further detail.
